Chantecaille Spring 2011 Collection

With this collection, Chantecaille is honoring the impressive beauty and stature of sea turtles. Chantecaille continues its mission to support marine wildlife.

Chantecaille is partnering with Dr. Karen Eckert of WIDECAST, who is focused on saving sea turtles in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, including Caribbean island nations and in Central and South America.

Sea Turtle Palette ($79.00) (Limited Edition)

This limited edition palette, inspired by the beauty of green sea turtles and their warm, sandy nesting grounds, reflects the fluid ease, billowy freedom and insouciant vintage Parisian chic of fashion. Three Eye Shades and one Cheek Shade reflect the golden warmth of new spring neutrals complimented by an on trend deep sea green eye defining shade. Composed of formulas with the finest pearl and pigment particles to create a natural, satin, sheer veil on the skin with a glowing effect. Eye shades never travel or crease. For the complete Spring look, follow with one of our new long lasting, full color Hydra Chic shades. With the purchase of this refillable palette, 5% of proceeds will help WIDECAST ensure the survival of sea turtles.

New Hydra Chic Shades ($30.00)

To complete this clean, graceful and sophisticated look, Chantecaille created three new Hydra Chic shades. Hydra Chic is a modern full-impact lipstick that is hydrating and luminous with six hours of great color wear. Natural extracts of papaya and orchid help to soften lips and provide anti-oxidant and anti-aging protection. Raist, a natural sugar derivative, provides immediate and comforting hydration.

  • Aster A bright vibrant floral pink shade. Not too cool and not too warm, this pink emphasizes and brightens lips.
  • Canna A soft peach shade warms the face.
  • Willow Impart the sophisticated look of the neutral lip with this deep beige shade.

Lumieres Byzantines de Chanel

I’ve just stumbled upon a sneak peek of one of Chanel's limited edition palettes for next year and I must say… love at first sight. I really want this palette. The 'Lumieres Byzantines de Chanel' is a palette of five cream highlighters, inspired by Karl Lagerfeld's pre-Fall 2011 show, 'an ode to Istanbul and the rich Byzantine stonework aesthetic'. It includes shades of gold and metallic brown.

The bad news is that this gorgeous palette is a very limited edition one. Only 1500 palettes are available. So I wish anyone trying get their hands on this amazing palette good luck because it is a beautiful palette! I’ll certainly try myself, but not sure whether I’ll have any luck.

This, and the rest of the Chanel Byzance Make-Up Collection will be available to buy in June 2011.

Chanel: 2011 Paris-Byzance Metiers d’Art Show Beauty

“The theme of the collection, Paris-Byzance is a great inspiration on it’s own. The links and associations with Chanel are rich and plenty. Karl gave Sam (McKnight) and me a sketch giving us a rough idea of the direction he wanted for the look, from then the tone was set. Karl also showed us the world-famous mosaic portrait of Theodora, the Empress of the Byzantine Empire Mosaic from the Saint-Vital de Ravenne Basilica, which very naturally became the inspiration for the show’s makeup. The portrait gave me a focus point : the red eye shadow/liner that she wears on the arch of her eyebrows. This look is all about light and rich textures. The choreography between gold, bronze, black and red can be easily personalized according to the desires of each woman.” - Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup

Peter used the following CHANEL products to create the runway beauty looks:

Givenchy Spring 2011 Collection: Naivement Couture

If the world’s first woman were to be born today in the primeval garden, she would no doubt have a different vision of paradise. Nature would be tamed, its energy restrained, creating an ambiance in which she would more likely cut down the Tree of Knowledge than water it. But springtime always manages to awaken desires and dispel gloomy ideas. The impulse to seek gratification is driven by a sixth sense, making us eager for any and all sorts of sensations. A breath of pure air to be discovered or devised. The Must-Have, Blush Gelée, is a rich elixir of youth, illuminating a self-assured candour with fresh energy. NAÏVEMENT COUTURE (“naively couture”) is an autosuggestion of happiness.
